Point at your subject
Typing "person" works until three people are on screen. Draw a box around the one you want, add include and exclude points, and it follows them through the clip, forwards and backwards from any frame.

Asena Mask runs on your own NVIDIA graphics card. Nothing is uploaded, nothing costs money, and the result drops straight into After Effects.

Drag the handle. Same clip, background gone.
Your footage stays on your PC. The model runs on your graphics card, so there is nothing to upload and no account to make.
Ready for editing. Save ProRes 4444 with alpha, WebM, a PNG sequence, or a black-and-white matte.
Not just clips. Drop in a single image or a whole folder of images and it cuts them all out.
No account, no watermark, no upload limit.
Everything here came from using it on real edits. The details are small, the time saved is not.
Typing "person" works until three people are on screen. Draw a box around the one you want, add include and exclude points, and it follows them through the clip, forwards and backwards from any frame.
Scrub the video, drag the two ends to choose the section, and pick your subject on whichever frame shows them best. Only the section you chose is processed.
Shrink the cut-out to lose a bright halo, grow it to keep thin details, or soften it for a smoother blend into new footage.
ProRes 4444 with alpha for After Effects and Premiere. WebM with alpha for the web. PNG sequences. Or a plain black-and-white matte you can use as a track matte anywhere. Frame rate can be changed on the way out.
One photo, or a folder of hundreds. Each image comes out as a transparent PNG with the same name.
After installation the app works offline. Your clips never leave your computer, and the installer keeps everything in its own folder, away from other software on your PC.
No settings to learn first. The defaults are the ones that worked best in testing.
Drag in a video, an image, or a folder of images. Or click the box and browse.
Type it ("person, hair, sword"), or open the picker and draw a box around your subject. Trim the clip if you only need part of it.
Press Run. When it finishes you get a preview over any background colour. Save it, or change a setting and run again.
The first run loads the model, which takes a little while. After that, speed depends on your graphics card. On an RTX 5070 a 96-frame clip took about five minutes.
Free for Windows 10 and 11. Version 1.00 Beta.
Download the installerThe installer is small. It downloads the rest (about 6 GB) while you wait, so you need an internet connection the first time.
Windows may say "Windows protected your PC" because the app is new and not yet code-signed. Choose More info, then Run anyway.
Pick a folder if you want a different drive, then let it finish. You can cancel and run it again later; it continues where it stopped.
It adds a Start menu entry and, if you leave the box ticked, a desktop shortcut.
Running the software and the site has a cost. Support me if you can. It is never required.

Yes. There are no accounts, subscriptions or watermarks.
No. Everything is processed on your own computer. Downloads happen only during installation (the app, the GPU libraries and the model).
NVIDIA GeForce cards from the GTX 900 series to the RTX 50 series, with a current driver (570 or later). AMD, Intel and Apple chips are not supported yet.
Any footage: animation, games, real-life video. People and characters with clear shapes cut out best. For a clip with several people, use the subject picker instead of text.
It depends on your card and the clip. On an RTX 5070 it was about three seconds per frame. Long clips (over about 400 frames) with subject picking use a lot of memory, so split them if it struggles.
Most of it is the GPU libraries (about 4 to 5 GB) and the AI model (about 1.7 GB). Every local AI tool needs the same.
New apps without a paid code-signing certificate trigger it. Choose More info, then Run anyway. Some antivirus programs also double-check unfamiliar files, which can slow the first launch.
Open Windows Settings, then Apps, find Asena Mask and choose Uninstall. Your settings stay behind so a reinstall is quick.
Windows only for now.
Asena Mask is built on open-source software. Here is what it uses and where to find the code.
Because Asena Mask includes GPL software, its source code is available to everyone under the same licence.
This website has no accounts and no ads. When you press Download it adds one to a download counter. For that, a scrambled version of your connection details is kept for ten minutes so the same click is not counted twice, then it is discarded. Nothing else about you is stored.
The app itself sends nothing anywhere once installed.
Asena Mask is an independent project. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Meta Platforms, Inc. or Comfy Org. "Meta", "SAM" and "ComfyUI" belong to their owners. The software is provided as is, without warranty of any kind. You are responsible for having the rights to the footage you process.
